Both LeadPages and ClickFunnels have their strengths, but for the most part it comes down to whether you’re creating simple landing pages or building full sales funnels.

It’s easy to use right out-of-the-box to create professional landing pages, “About Us” pages, product listings etc. 

What Is ClickFunnels?

Before we answer this question, we have to define what a funnel is…

A sales funnel is an entire series of pages that are designed to convert customers. 

You might want to collect emails, make a sale, or offer a free trial — whatever your goal is, a well-designed funnel can make it happen. 

ClickFunnels is a full-on funnel builder. 

It streamlines the process of building pages AND building fully-optimized funnels.

Now let’s look in-depth at the individual features of LeadPages vs. ClickFunnels… 

LeadPages Vs ClickFunnels Page Builder

Both ClickFunnels and LeadPages use drag-and-drop page builders. 

This means that you build and edit pages by dragging elements onto the page and setting them where you want.

LeadPages Page Builder

Many of LeadPages’ page designs can be customized with their drag-and-drop page builder (others can’t, but we’ll explain this more in the next section…).

You can add video, images, buttons, headers, text boxes, custom HTML, and more…

• Save

Unfortunately, Leadpages doesn’t let you position elements exactly where you want. 

Instead, you’re restricted to certain positions were they “snap” into place on a predefined grid. 

You’ll be able to get them close, but you won’t be able to scoot them slightly to the left, down a smidge, or up a tickle.

There’s one more complaint that a lot of  LeadPages users report, and that’s that the page builder can be a bit buggy/glitchy.

On the upside, it lets you switch between desktop, mobile, and tablet mode with the click of a button, so you can instantly preview what your design looks like on different devices (ClickFunnels does this too).

ClickFunnels Page Builder

ClickFunnels is known for its easy-to-use page builder, and it’s one of the main things that sets it apart from the competition. 

You can tweak any of the pre-designed templates with very little effort, and if there’s ever anything outside of the scope of the page builder you can always add custom CSS code.

For the most part though, you should be able to take care of everything with the builder. 

Unlike LeadPages, you can position elements exactly where you want them. 

All you have to do is adjust the margins and padding from the control panel.

Just slide the toggle to the right or to the left to fine-tune the amount of space between elements. 

You can also easily change the color of any element (this is true with LeadPages too).

Overall, Russell’s page builder is much better than LeadPages. 

It’s more intuitive, allows you to position elements exactly where you want, and is less glitchy. 

LeadPages Vs ClickFunnels Page Templates

In the epic battle between LeadPages and ClickFunnels, ClickFunnels wins the page design competition. 

ClickFunnels used to have a reputation for having overly “salesly” page designs, but those days are in the past. 

Between their large selection of professional landing pages and superior page builder, they definitely have the upper hand. 

And keep in mind you can always create your own custom, beautiful looking, high-converting templates (that’s what we provide our students virtual summit funnel templates in Virtual Summit Mastery and tons of other sales funnel templates in Funnel Wizard).

LeadPages Page Templates

LeadPages has some killer pre-built landing pages that look amazing out-of-the-box. 

If all you want is a crisp, clean landing pages that are ready-to-rock, then LeadPages has you covered.

• Save

Some of their older templates don’t work with the drag-and-drop builder and there’s very little you can change about them.

For example, if you remove an element from a standard template, you’re left with a big empty space that you can’t do anything with (womp, womp). 

In fact, LeadPages headquarters even encourages its users to steer clear of their standard templates and to use the newer ones instead.

On the positive side, the sheer number of templates (over 160) somewhat makes up for the lack of customization options.

ClickFunnels Page Templates

ClickFunnels’ page templates are a different animal altogether.

The first thing you’ll notice when you enter the Funnel Marketplace is that you don’t just have templates for individual pages…but you also have templates for FULL funnels. 

Many of the templates are free, and they’re ALL designed to convert.

If you want to branch out from the freebies, you can find all sorts of page and funnel templates ranging from $8 to $297 per set (or your can always get our amazing sales funnel templates and pages we provide in Funnel Wizard).

Each template has a specific purpose:

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, but ClickFunnels is by far the superior tool for building funnels. 

You can still get the job done with LeadPages, but it’s a much less intuitive process.

Building a full funnel with LeadPages is a stretch. 

Although it technically comes with all the pieces you need, like a page builder, payment processor, and email integrations, actually turning them into an operational funnel is another story.

For example, you can build a page that collects emails (squeeze page), then link it to a page with a sales video, and then link that to a checkout page, and finally to a thank you page.

ClickFunnels has streamlined the process of turning individual pages into funnels. 

As a matter of fact, they’ve already done it for you.

When you open up the funnel builder you have two processes to choose from:

Both ClickFunnels and Leadpages let you track page performance using Google Analytics, but LeadPages has a neat feature that displays conversion rates and page visits right within the LeadPages platform.

However, if all you want to track is…

ClickFunnels also links to Google Analytics and allows you to set up Facebook retargeting pixels. 

This way you can strategically retarget people based on certain past behaviors. 

For example, you can target people who watched your first sales video 30% of the way through.

This is one area where ClickFunnels blows LeadPages out of the water. 

Upselling and downselling are central to the science of sales funnels, which is what ClickFunnels does best.

LeadPages is sufficient for collecting emails but it falls a little short if you’re trying to warm customers up for a purchase. 

ClickFunnels, on the other hand, is highly-optimized for maximizing conversions.

LeadPages has a feature called LeadBoxes for creating opt-in pop-ups. 

The best part is, you can schedule them to trigger after the visitor has been on the page for a certain amount of time or when they try to exit the page (ClickFunnels does this too).

You can also install bars at the top of your pages where visitors can submit their email at any time. 

The LeadDigits feature lets visitors opt-in to you email list via SMS messages. 

Finally, LeadPages has a feature called LeadLinks, which inserts one-click links into your email campaigns.

When the user clicks the link, they’re instantly registered (no need for a confirmation step).

Once you capture the lead, their email is instantly sent to your CRM, email list, or webinar platform. 

ClickFunnels Capturing Leads

Capturing leads, nurturing an audience, and warming them up for bigger sales is what ClickFunnels does best. 

There are several ways to capture leads with ClickFunnels, but it usually starts with a squeeze page.  

A squeeze page goes at the beginning of a funnel, and its sole purpose is to gather the email — this way if the lead decides to bounce, you’ll already have their contact info for retargeting. 

If you want to get fancy, you can use a survey page to pre-qualify and segment your leads. 

Based on how they answer the questions, you can hit them with sales copy that’s written specifically for them.

PLUS your opt-in boxes link directly to your autoresponder/CRM.

LeadPages Vs ClickFunnels Website Integration

Both LeadPages and ClickFunnels allow you to build pages and embed them into other CMS platforms like WordPress and Squarespace websites.

LeadPages, on the other hand, hits this out of the park.

For starters, LeadPages offers weekly group coaching calls for all plan levels. 

There’s no 24-hour chat support, but their stellar support team is available from 9am to 5pm Central time Monday-Friday. 

Outside of these times, you can open a support ticket and they’ll get to it promptly.

However, if you want the highest level of service, LeadPages gives priority to their Advanced members, who get 1-on-1 Quick Start Calls and free virtual workshops. 

ClickFunnels Customer Support

ClickFunnels customer support has a reputation for dropping the ball now and again, and their help documents could use some work. 

They don’t have 24-hour chat support, but when you do get ahold of someone they’re usually very friendly and helpful. 

However, even during the day it can take hours to hear back from chat support.

To be fair though, the positive customer comments far outweigh the bad.
